New Choir Development

New Choir Development Funding is available to assist new choirs in the first three years of existence to develop the skills, talent and connections required for long-term sustainability.  The maximum New Choir Development Funding awarded to a new choir per year is $300.  Funding is limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.  A  new application is required each year funding is requested  in the first three years of existence of the choir.

Application Procedure

Eligibility
  • Must be a new choir in its first three years of existence.
  • Must be a member of Saskatchewan Choral Federation.  Newly formed members can apply for membership with their funding application.
  • Must be a community or church choir whose membership (or the opportunity to audition for membership in the choir) is open to all members of the community.  
  • Must be active throughout the year, meeting weekly except during holidays/summer.
  • Choir members must be members of the community (or surrounding district) and may not receive any renumeration or compensation for their performance with the choir.

Submission Guidelines
Applications must include the following:  
  • A completed application form signed by two Executive Officers is required for each year of funding requested 
  • Financial statements as indicated on the application form
  • A copy of your  current budget including lines for conductor, accompanist, facility, uniforms, music
  • A valid list of choir members
  • A list of activities in which your choir participated in the last twelve months including festivals, competitions, workshops, concerts, parades, etc.

Application Deadline
Applications are due by September 15 annually.


Selection Process

Adjudications will be based on:
  1. Completeness of the application
  2. Funds available
  3. Number of participants involved
Please note that:
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.  Please attach additional pages if you require more space on the form.

Disbursement of Funds 
  • Funding for each choir is based on the number of members in the choir.  
  • New choirs of less than 10 people will receive funding on a pro-rated basis
  • Funds will be disbursed in one  payment in January


Additional Information
  •  Successful applicants must maintain their SCF Membership for both the year in which the funding assistance application is submitted and the years in which funding assistance is approved.
  • Successful applicants must acknowledge Sask Lotteries as the funder and  in partnership with the Saskatchewan Choral Federation by using the respective logos on all printed materials or electronic media, etc.
