Music Library

ACCESSING THE MUSIC LIBRARY
Please note that the SCF Music Library is a lending library and scores  are not for sale or available in a PDF format.   We DO NOT lend music outside of Canada.   For additional information on borrowing music from the library please go to Borrowing Procedures and Fees below.
Borrowing Music from the Library 
  • The SCF Music Library is open by appointment only, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. 
  •  If you are not feeling well we ask that cancel your appointment to protect the health of the SCF Staff.
  • We do ask that if you you are staying for an extended period of time, a mask be worn while inside the Music Centre and hand sanitizer used upon entering.  
  • Perusal of music catalogues will be allowed onsite by appointment only with the following restrictions - two people per choir/group maximum.  SCF staff will assist with the books for perusal by taking off the shelves and placing them in a designated area.  
  • Music orders received will be available for pickup or mailed out within 48 hours.   
  • Please call ahead prior to pickup or drop-off of music.
Policy Guidelines for borrowing choral music:
  • Materials will be lent for one period at a time - Fall (August to December), Winter (January - May) or Summer (July - August).  Extensions will be available upon written request and subject to others not requesting the music at that time.
  • Member choirs may borrow multiple copies of up to 10 titles per period.  
  • Individual SCF members (individuals, students, honorary) may borrow three copies of up to 10 titles per period.
  • Any individual may access materials in the SCF Music Library but will not be able to remove materials from the Library
  • Out or province borrowers must be a member in good standing of their provincial choral organization.  In addition to Library Improvement Fees shipping and handling costs are the responsibility of the borrower.  
  • Materials may not be passed on to other members nor shared with non-members.
  • Borrowed materials must be returned by June 30th .
  • Missing materials will be charged to the borrower at a minimum of $5.00 per copy (this includes choral, band and orchestral scores)
  • Borrowers are asked to provide one copy of their concert program when returning materials.
  • The borrower's concert program must include the following recognition:  The Saskatchewan Choral Federation, with funding Sask Lotteries, has provided some of the music performed at this concert.    Logos for the Saskatchewan Choral Federation and Sask Lotteries are available on request and should be utilized where possible.
  • All borrowed materials must be returned in clean, undamaged condition or repair or replacement charges will be invoiced.

SCF online choral database

​The SCF Music Library has over 6300 choral titles with 10 or more copies available for member choirs to borrow.   There are also over 10,000 single copies available for research only.    The choral database is now online!  It can be found by following the link.

BORROWING PROCEDURES AND FEES
Please note that you must be a member choir or individual member of the Saskatchewan Choral Federation to borrow music from the library.  If you are a borrower from out of province you must be a members of your provincial choral organization.   
We do not lend music out of the country.  For choral scores, orders can be placed directly through the new online library page at make-music-happen.   For out of province borrowers, until further notice, shipping and handling fees will be calculated at the time of preparing the music for shipping and will be sent under separate invoice.  SCF has a reduced shipping rate for library orders up to 5kg so orders over that weight may be sent in more than one package.  ALL borrowers will receive a postage paid return shipping label.  Please keep this label as we are not able to re-print the postage paid label that has been sent to you.

Library fees for borrowing choral scores are:
  • 1-10 pages - $0.25 / score
  • 11-20 pages - $0.50 / score
  • 21-50 pages - $1.00 / score
  • 50+ pages - $2.00/score

PERUSING SCORES
The library is located at the SCF Music Centre in Regina.  Scores are available for perusal by Saskatchewan Choral Federation members during SCF office hours.  And we have a piano available for your use!  For members from outside of Regina, arrangements can be made to receive single copies of up to 20 titles for perusal for a one month period.  Please contact us for information on how you can access these copies. 

Instrumental
​Music

​Thanks to generous donations from Yvonne Redant, Cornerstone Christian School in Moose Jaw, Regina's Bandits, the Regina Separate School Division, the Saskatchewan Music Educators Association and the Regina Community Orchestra, we also have a collection of more than 1,500+ band titles and 250 orchestral scores available for loan.   
Access to these music library resources is a perk of a choir membership with SCF.  The cost of borrowing scores for SCF members is $10 / score (shipping included).   Please contact us at information@saskchoral.ca to find out how.
Other ensembles (bands, orchestras) may purchase a Library Pass for $50 per year for access to the instrumental music library.   The cost of borrowing band/orchestral scores is $10 /score (shipping included in Saskatchewan/shipping outside of Saskatchewan will be extra).  Borrowers will receive a postage paid return shipping label.  Please keep this label as we are not able to re-print the label that has been sent to you.   Please note that we do not lend instrumental music outside of Canada.
 Please submit your requests via email to information@saskchoral.ca and allow a minimum of 3 business days for your order to be pulled and prepared.

  • Damaged or misplaced parts/scores will be replaced at the cost to the borrower with a minimum of $5.00 per instrumental piece or $10 per conductor's score.
  • All borrowed materials must be returned in clean, undamaged condition or repair or replacement charges will be invoiced.
  • Borrowers are asked to provide one copy of their concert program when returning materials.
  • Concert programs must include the following recognition:  The Saskatchewan Choral Federation,  with funding from Sask Lotteries, has provided some of the music performed at this concert.

Apply for a the purchase of a music through the Library Cost Share Program
  • SCF pays 75% of the purchase price
  • SCF member choir pays 25% of the purchase price
  • The choir will have first use of the music for one year and then it will be entered into the SCF Music Library for use by all SCF members
