OPTIMIST CHORFEST 2014

"MUSIC AT NOON" DOWNTOWN CONCERT SERIES

On Sunday, February 9, 2014 high school and adult singers from Esterhazy, Kipling, Moose Jaw, Regina, Rosthern, Swift Current and Wymark attended a mixed voice workshop with Vancouver’s musica intima. The workshop took place in the afternoon at Knox Metropolitan United Church and began with workshop participants loosening up with some vocal exercises before rehearsing several pieces with musica intima: Inuit Hunting Song, arranged by Derek Healey, and Shenandoah, arranged by James Erb. Participants also rehearsed in break out sessions with individual musica intima members before coming together for a mass choir rehearsal. The workshop concluded with a mini concert from musica intima who performed exclusive pieces that would not be performed in the following day’s noon hour concert.

musica intima is a Vancouver based group internationally renowned for their warm and engaging stage presence, impeccable musicianship, and unique perspective on ensemble singing. They have earned a reputation as Canada’s most exciting vocal ensemble. Founded in 1992, musica intima has become an integral part of Vancouver’s cultural fabric.  Thank you musica intima, participants, volunteers & sponsors for making this an exceptional day!
