Choral Week

Choral Week in Saskatchewan is the provinces' official recognition that signing is an important part of our lives and vital for our individual and collective well-being.  Singing together is an integral component and expression of every culture that must be created, shared and passed on to future generations.

Choral Week is the perfect opportunity for choristers to celebrate their choir, help promote choral music in Saskatchewan and take advantage of exceptional educational opportunities. The goals of Choral Week are to:

Reflecting on who we are and where we have come from helps us see where we need to go

Sharing our stories helps people understand why singing is important

Music education shapes lives, communities & culture

Get involved:

Celebrate – Do you have an event planned for Choral Week from February 6-12, 2016?  Let the province know who you are and why you do what you do! Tell (or sing!) us your story and let the rest of Saskatchewan know who you are and why singing in choir is important to you! Is there a choir in your community that we should know about?  Is there a choir history that should be part of the Celebrate Saskatchewan Choirs page?  Now is the time to save and celebrate our collective history for future generations.

From now until February 1, 2016, SCF will collect choirs’ photos, videos, biographies and post them to the Celebrate Saskatchewan Choirs page.

Advocate – Have fun with the Sing With Your Community Contest.  Earn points by singing with influencers in your community and use them to buy new choral music through SCF's Music Cost-Share program.

Educate – Are you registered for ChorFest 2016 yet?  Bring your choir(s) to work with special guest clinicians Janet Brenneman (CMU Winnipeg), Jennifer Lang (UofS Saskatoon) and Graeme Langager (UBC Vancouver) during ChorFest (February 6-10, 2016).  Find out more here >>
