'Sing With Your Community' Advocacy Initiative*

Share some choral love during Choral Week with a choral-a-gram in the Sing With Your Community contest!  From now until February 6, 2016, share a video of your choir singing in your community and you could win new music for your choir to perform during the 2016-17 music season!

Videos are given points for:

  • Singing in a public area (mall, City Hall, grocery store, you get the picture!) - 1 point
  • Getting non-choir members to sing with you - 1 point per person
  • Singing for an 'influencer' in your community in a public area (mayor, councillor, MLA, MP, education trustee, reeve) - 2 points
  • Getting your community influencer(s) to sing with you - 3 points!

EVERYONE WINS!  Each point is worth 5 Advocacy Dollars

Every Advocacy Dollar your choir earns will be matched by $3 through SCF's Music Cost-Share Program, so you'll have four times as much money to direct towards new music!

Earn 10 Advocacy Dollars --> spend $40 on new choral music!

* The fine print:

  • Choirs may enter more than one video as long as they sing a different song at a different location with a different audience.
  • Tag videos with #singforyourcommunity and #skchoralweek.
  • Tweet photos to @SKChoral or post to SCF's Facebook page:
  • By posting your entry, you authorize SCF and its agents to use this material for promotional purposes.
  • SCF will match a maximum 20 Advocacy Dollars earned by each choir.
  • All music will be purchased after July 1, 2016 for use in the 2016-17 choral season.
  • The Music Cost-Share Program is an initiative to enlist the choral community's guidance and direction in selecting new music for the SCF Music Library.  All music purchased under this program is available for your choir to use for the first year and then is housed at SCF for all choirs to borrow and enjoy.  The SCF Library Committee will make the final decision on choral music to be purchased.  SCF will work with each participating choir to ensure mutual benefit.
