Saskatchewan Choral Federation

You're invited to become a member of the Regina Male Voice Choir!

Will you be welcome as a new member?  YES

We're happy to have you involved as either a short-term or long-term member!

Will you enjoy singing with other men?  YES

You will enjoy singing with the fellows and the camaraderie of the group!

If you've never sung before, can you still be part of the RMVC?  YES

Many of the fellows don't have a musical background.  They have acquired this new skill by listening to, and singing with, the rest of the Choir.  While they may not have had a well-developed singing voice at the the beginning, the individual quality of each person's voice blended with and was enhanced by the rest of the group, so they soon felt right at home!

What kind of music do you sing?  LOTS OF DIFFERENT THINGS

There is a wide variety of music written for men by such great composers as Schubert, Elgar, Gillbert and Sullivan, Shaw, Alhouse, Belafonte, Kaldor, Romberg and many, many others.  The repertoire of the RMVC includes folk, musicals, sacred, sea shanties and lots, lots more!

What so special about singing with a male voice choir?  THE CHALLENGE

Music for male four-part harmony is often demanding and exciting.  It has a unique flavour and sound that is very satisfying to sing and a pleasure for the audience to listen to!

Do you travel anywhere?  YES

The RMVC presents many concerts in Regina in addition to the annual concert.  Over the years, the RMVC has performed all over Saskatchewan including Yorkton, Melville, Estevan, Weyburn, Strasbourg, Lumsden, Moose Jaw, Milestone, and Assiniboia, to name a few locations.  We've even made a couple of trips to Winnipeg!

Does it cost to participate?  A BIT

There is a membership fee of $50 per year that helps to cover music and leadership expenses.  This fee is waived for a new member for the first year.  We have a charitable number that enables you to receive a tax credit for donations.  Members are also required to provide their own uniform - grey trousers, navy jacket, black shoes and socks, white shirt and red tie.

How much time do I have to commit?  A COUPLE OF HOURS A WEEK

Rehearsals are held from 7:30 to 9:30 pm each Wednesday at Knox-Metropolitan United Church from September to early May.  There are two main concerts each year in November and May and opportunities to participate from time to time in performances for charity functions, official openings, Christmas gatherings, senior residences, dedications and the like.
