Golden Note Award
The Golden Note Award recognizes the contribution of individuals to the cultural life of Saskatchewan by their long-time (25+ years) active participation in the choral arts. There are two award categories: Singer or Choral Conductor. A maximum of 5 awards in each category will be presented. If you know of individuals who have conducted or sung in choirs for a minimum of twenty-five years, then please nominate them for the Golden Note Award.
Nomination Procedure
Eligibility
- Anyone involved in singing with, or directing, a choir for a minimum of 25 years may be nominated for this award.
- Nominees must presently reside in Saskatchewan.
- No posthumous awards will be made.
Submission Guidelines
Nominations will be accepted from SCF Members in good standing and must include the following:
- A completed nomination form.
- A brief biography of the nominee (no more than 1 page). The biography should include education, musical background (including singing or choral conducting), affiliation with agencies or groups, noteworthy achievements, hobbies and interests.
- A description (no more than 3 pages) of the the reasons why you feel this person deserves to be recognized.
- One letter of support (from a person other than the nominator) confirming the significance of the nominees contribution to choral music in his/her community.
- A cheque for $50 to cover administration and an Awards Banquet ticket for the award winner (cheques will be returned of the nominee is unsuccessful).
Nomination Deadline
The nomination deadline is September 1st.
Selection Process
The Recognition of the SCF Board of Directors will select the award recipient from the list of candidates nominated each year.
Notification
The SCF will notify successful award recipient(s) and all nominators of the status of their nominee by September 15th. The award recipient will be required to provide a high resolution photo (in .jpg format) by October 1st.
Awards Presentation
Awards are presented annually at the Awards Banquet at the Saskatchewan Music Conference in November.
Additional Information
The Saskatchewan Choral Federation will present a maximum of 5 awards in both the Singer and Choral Conductor categories, for a total of 10 awards in any given year.
